in the series EUROPE OF THE 21ST CENTURY

on the topic of

The Resilience of Europe, the European Union, and Its Member States to Security Threats. The Current State and Future Scenarios

February 5-6, 2026, Collegium Polonicum in Słubice

Dear Sirs and Madams,

On behalf of the organizers, the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, and the Collegium Polonicum in Słubice, we invite you to participate in an international conference on European issues. Its participants will include researchers representing Polish and foreign academic and research institutions, journalists, politicians, and others interested in the problems of Europe, the European Union, and its relations with the immediate and wider environment in which this organization operates.

The conference will be held at the Collegium Polonicum in Słubice, which is a joint research and educational institution of Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, and the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder). The Collegium Polonicum building, along with its dormitories, is located on the Polish side of this border river.

The Słubice meeting will serve as a platform for presenting the results of scientific research on the current problems of the old continent and, above all, for assessing the state of security of the European Union and its members in its various dimensions. An important task will also be the identification and assessment of the intensity of threats to such security, as well as their impact on the condition of the European Union and the effectiveness of its cooperation with external entities. The aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which began in February 2022, necessitates a scholarly examination of the most current topics related to the ongoing war and its consequences.

During the 26th conference in the „Europe of the 21st Century” series, scheduled for February 5-6, 2026, an attempt will be made to present, inter alia:

  • the resilience of Europe, the EU, and its member states to threats, primarily of a military, health, humanitarian, and natural character;
  • the consequences of crises and conflicts, e.g., in the post-Soviet area, the Middle East, and North Africa, for European security;
  • the impact of internal crises on the security of EU states and citizens;
  • threats from extremist social movements as a consequence of economic problems and deepening social differentiation;
  • the significance of NATO in ensuring security on the old continent;
  • resilience to threats in the sphere of social communication;
  • the role of the mass media in popularizing the idea of European integration, creating the image of European organizations and institutions, and overcoming security threats;
  • desirable and possible directions of change in the EU’s legal and institutional system to increase resilience to current and future threats to European security, and the related tasks for politicians, academics, media, and journalists.

An important objective of the conference will also be the integration of the scientific community around the important research problem that has been established as the permanent theme of the conference series.

The conference language will be Polish. Presentations by speakers and the discussion during the plenary session will be simultaneously translated into English. The program also includes panels in both of these languages. The organizers provide conference participants with meals and the opportunity to publish papers accepted by reviewers in the journals of the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism at AMU.

Please complete the conference registration by January 9, 2026, on the conference website: http://europa21.edu.pl (REGISTRATION tab).
