on the topic of

The Resilience of Europe, the European Union, and Its Member States to Security Threats. The Current State and Future Scenarios

February 5-6, 2026, Collegium Polonicum in Słubice

Dear Sir or Madam,

On behalf of the organizers — the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, and the Collegium Polonicum in Słubice — we kindly invite you to participate in an international conference devoted to European issues. The conference will bring together researchers representing Polish and international academic and research institutions, as well as journalists, politicians, and all those interested in the problems of Europe, the European Union, and its relations with its immediate and wider environment.

The conference will be held at the Collegium Polonicum in Słubice, a joint research and educational institution of Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, and the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder). The Collegium Polonicum building, together with its dormitories, is located on the Polish side of the border river.

The meeting in Słubice will serve as a platform for presenting the results of scientific research on the current problems of Europe and, above all, for assessing the state of security of the European Union and its member states in its various dimensions. An important objective will also be the identification and assessment of the intensity of security threats, as well as their impact on the condition of the European Union and the effectiveness of its cooperation with external partners. The aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which began in February 2022, necessitates a scholarly examination of the most pressing issues related to the ongoing war and its consequences.

During the 26th conference in the “Europe of the 21st Century” series, scheduled for 5–6 February 2026, the following issues will be addressed, among others:

  • the resilience of Europe, the European Union, and its member states to threats of a military, health, humanitarian, and natural nature;

  • the consequences of crises and conflicts, including those in the post-Soviet area, the Middle East, and North Africa, for European security;

  • the impact of internal crises on the security of EU member states and their citizens;

  • threats posed by extremist social movements resulting from economic difficulties and deepening social inequalities;

  • the significance of NATO in ensuring security on the European continent;

  • resilience to threats in the sphere of social communication and information security;

  • the role of the mass media in promoting European integration, shaping the image of European organizations and institutions, and addressing security challenges;

  • desirable and possible changes in the EU’s legal and institutional system aimed at increasing resilience to current and future security threats, as well as the related tasks for politicians, academics, media professionals, and journalists.

An important objective of the conference is also to foster the integration of the scientific community around this key research problem, which has been established as the permanent theme of the conference series.

The conference language will be Polish. Presentations and discussions during the plenary sessions will be provided with simultaneous interpretation into English. The program will also include panels conducted in both languages. The organizers will provide conference participants with meals and the opportunity to publish papers accepted by reviewers in the journals of the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism at Adam Mickiewicz University.
